Howard walnut sapling, which is generally named as dwarf walnut variety in the market, is an ideal species to establish a walnut garden. The walnut variety, which is suitable for growing in high altitude and cold regions, can be planted at an altitude of approximately 1400 meters according to the conditions of our country. Howard walnut saplings with open roots can be planted in the garden between November and April, which are the rest months of winter. However, the planting of these walnut saplings can be done in 12 months during the year.

Howard walnut sapling is a hybrid of Pedro walnut and its kernel range is approximately 6.5 grams and its light colored kernel ratio is around 90 to 95 percent. Compared to other walnut saplings, its fruit matures and defoliates up to 12 days earlier. The fruits are smaller than the Chandler varieties and the size of the seedlings is between 60 and 80 cm. Although walnuts with a small structure provide a disadvantage in terms of yield, they provide great advantages in terms of garden setup.
